One of the great joys of my job is that it’s personal. I get to know my students and their lives very well. I am constantly offering advice whether it’s about movies, shops or restaurants and it always makes me smile when I hear that they enjoyed themselves thanks to my recommendations. I love it when people tell me about a great restaurant or give me some “insider” advice on how to save myself time and money. Last year I updated my “Movie Recommendations” (a handout I give to anyone that likes movies) and this year I’ll be working on a restaurant list that will be compiled with the help of many of my students.
Late last year I wrote an article on headphones which not everyone was interested in but I was extremely glad to hear that one of my students loves music and was looking for a good set of headphones for X-Mas and when she read my article she went over to Yodobashi-Camera and tested out a few and finally went with the one I wrote about in my article. Now she enjoys listening to Aerosmith every day on her fabulous new headphones.
Another student took my advice and went out to eat at a Yakiniku restaurant in Moriguchi which is not only reasonable but high quality. It’s just across from Mr. Donuts (located under the station) and the name of the restaurant is “Monjiro”, she thoroughly enjoyed the food there so if you’re in the area I suggest you give it a try.
Finally two others students decided to go with Mac for their new computers and are extremely happy with their investment. For one student they said that “it’s so smooth” and while he had a little trouble getting used to the new buttons and system he absolutely loves the reliability of it, I couldn’t agree more. The other student went with the new Macbook because it was “so cute.” I can’t say that I would ever buy a computer based entirely on its looks but I do think that she made a great choice and will enjoy using her computer more than ever before.
In the next few weeks I’ll be writing up some new articles here on both English study as well as computers and business as I have been asked to by some students. I hope everyone enjoys reading them as much as I enjoy writing them.

Adrian,
I read all your articles and as a relative newcomer to Japan and the business world, I very much appreciate each and every one of them. I look forward to your “advice” posts, as well as reading about all the interesting and amazing things you partake in within your life, school and community.
