Hello Everyone! My name is Sue Six (yep, just like the number). I am the new kid on the block ~ fresh from Kansas in the USA. After nine nights at the hotel, I am very happy say I’m moving into my new apartment this morning. My English school is here in Kofu City, Yamanashi Prefecture. I’d lived and worked here as an English teacher for about three years, some 6-8 years ago. I love Kofu. It’s kind of crusty & modern at the same time, but it’s a lot of fun and I still have many friends here.
Even before deciding to become a franchisee with Smith’s, I had read the Soapbox, as well as every word I could find about SSE on the web. I was actively looking for something, anything, that would suggest this isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. But I couldn’t find anything. The upbeat writings from you all have been a real inspiration as I’ve moved through the process of stumbling across SSE while looking for EFL jobs in Japan, then thinking this was what I wanted to do, contacting the school, working with Mark (talking through many questions and doubts and fears), then finally saying yes to this life. Mark and Yuka have been TRULY wonderful throughout the whole process, and with every contact I am reassured that this is exactly right for me.
Thanks also to Gavin, Al, Derek, Jim, Craig, and Deanna. You have unknowingly given me encouragement through your stories about your own schools. I look forward to meeting you! And to getting started building my own Smith’s School of English–Kofu!
