After more than 18 months of construction, Hanyu Oasis (阪急オアシス) has finally opened next door to my English school, スミス英会話天神橋筋六丁目. It is in a new mini-mall that also includes a Risona bank (りそな銀行) and a police box (交番). The subway exit for my school has been completely remodeled (五号出口) and all around the mall they have planted trees and flowers! In addition to all this, they have repaved the nearby section of the Tenjimbashisuji Shotengai (天神橋筋商店街). Great!
Hankyu Oasis is quite upscale. They have expensive sushi, a large wine selection, a section just for imported cheese and even caviar (キャビア). But, at ¥8000 for just 20g, I don’t think it is something I’m going to be eating very often! They even have a range of fine Canadian maple syrup (メープルシロップ) – the true mark of quality.
It’s great to see the neighborhood get such a facelift. Now, I hope that some of the Oasis customers will decide that in addition to some caviar, they should also treat themselves to some English lessons.
