Halloween at SSE Kamishinjo

You are here: Home / English School Articles / Halloween at SSE Kamishinjo

At Smith’s Kamishinjo, we decided to have a Halloween party this year. Many students had never participated in a Halloween party before, so enthusiasm for the event was high. In the weeks preceding, I invited a couple of classes to carve jack-o-lanterns with me, and got others “in the mood” using Let’s Talk – Ghosts, which turned into an exciting Halloween lesson. Even though lots of people didn’t believe in ghosts, almost everyone had a first or second hand ghost story. Some of them were amazing. A few even gave me goose bumps!! Even beginner students had fun participating in the lesson, although I did modify it for beginner students. I highly recommend it as a Halloween Lesson…or anytime lesson if you like!
Because we’ve provided as many opportunities as possible for people to get to know each other throughout the year, everyone was comfortable together at the Halloween party. People relaxed, had fun and showed off their costumes….Now we can take a breather for a couple of weeks until it’s time to start all over for Christmas!
I think a Halloween Party is a great idea for an inter-school event next year…..

    Carol-

Great idea incorporating relevant curriculum with your party. Where did you ge the pumpkins for carving? The only ones I could find were over 5000 yen each! Is that picture a pumpkin you carved at the party? And what kind of costumes did your students wear?

Keep your eyes open for our soon to be posted SSE Ohtsu Halloween Party video! We also had a great halloween party! Video coming soon!
