スミス英会話鶴橋校: Gosh darn, I’ve lost my bike key…

You are here: Home / English School Articles / スミス英会話鶴橋校: Gosh darn, I’ve lost my bike key…

So I’ve lost my bicycle key.  The worst part, it’s not just the one, it was both.  Needless to say, I’ve been doing a lot of walking these last few days.  Walking.  It really isn’t all that bad.  Honestly, I’ve been trying to get to point A to point B as quick as possible lately.  It’s amazing the things you notice, or realize, or even just plain experience while walking.  And heck, it sure is good for you.  I’ve been doing the route from home to school, to school to shopping, shopping to home, back to school, a station here and there.  It’s been quite nice.  I kinda wish I had lost my key a while back…but I’m sure it’s not lost, it’s probably in the cushion, or under the toaster.  I can almost bet my son has it stashed in his little hiding spot.  Probably with all my pens and pencils.  My worry is that it has taken a ride down the porcelain prince, never to be seen again.  Which is alright I guess, because it has got me walking.  An activity I never respected as much as I do now.  Sure, my feet are a little sore, my legs have a few cramps, and the heat!  Wow, it’s hot out when you walk out in the city for awhile.  I did the loop from Tanimachi4chome 谷町四丁目 to Tsuruhashi 鶴橋.  Took a trip down to Namba なんば on the Kintetsu 近鉄線(sorry,I cheated).  Had a good burger at Wendy’s with Paul, walked around and bought a few necessities for the school, headed back to Tsuruhashi on the Sennichimae line 千日前線 from Nipponbashi station 日本橋駅(cheated again), stopped off at the school, continued down past Morinomiya, met a friend, back to Tamatsukuri 玉造, then hiked it back home with about 10kg’s of groceries.  And the best part is, I just missed a torrential downpour.  Walking, it sure does a body good.

Well, It’s about time to pick up my son.  I think I’ll walk.  I really don’t have any choice I guess.  The little guy probably flushed those keys down the toilet never to be seen again.  Curious little guy. I just hope he doesn’t start playing with my shoes…

Great article! You handle losing your bike key with such humour and calmness. I’ve lost mine once or twice, but not quite in the same way….

Thanks for the smile you gave me! Your son sounds like a character!

Yes Mike this article shows your wonderful sense of humour. At least you didn’t lose your keys, many times in one day, as so many people I know do. In your case it appears that you have lost them both for good. I personally think that walking is better anyway as you get to see a lot more and you don’t have any parking problems.

Thank you for the comments Carol and Ken. However, the realities of not having to walk long distances in the past are beginning to show. Mainly in the forms of blisters.
You are right Ken, walking does have many advantages. I have noticed so much more around my area than I ever really did before. I think I’m smiling more as well when I pass people. Feels good.
