For the past two years or so I have had a part time teaching job at a city office, teaching two different groups of eight ladies. Because my franchise has been getting busier, I decided to find these ladies another teacher and “retire.” Anyway, I had the opportunity of substitute teaching the class this week (and the other group next week). I can honestly say that I have never had a group of eight ladies (they call themselves “the Amigo” Class) that spoke so freely, so openly, and without any fear of mistakes. They are so comfortable with each other that they very often share personal news and information, and they don’t hesitate to ask me a few personal questions as well! The Amigos are a tight group! As a substitute this week they made me feel very welcome, very liked and respected. Deep down I wish I didn’t have to give up the class because they are such a beautiful group of people. There are many opportunities for language teachers in this country. I was lucky enough to find the “Amigos” and “der Freunds!” I will miss them…
