At Smith’s School of English Katsura (スミス英会話 桂) we have students learning English for different reasons.
Many want to speak English because they like traveling and need English to be able to communicate outside Japan.
Some students go further. They have decided to live in another country.
In the past few months three of my students left Japan to live abroad for a long period of time.
One student will live in Singapore for six months as a part of her job training. When she completes her training , she’ll have a job in another foreign country. This student was attending ‘Man-to-Man’ course and I was helping her with a job interview preparation, business English and some general English conversation(英会話).
Another student has moved to Germany with a family. Germany is a great place to live. It makes the best cars in Europe, produces amazing traditional food and there are thousands of historical and natural places to see. I have been to Germany on many occasions and will never get tired of this nice country.
Third student left for Canada and is going to attend a ‘Study Abroad’ program in Vancouver. Her plan is to stay there for one year. Canada has a stunning nature and she’ll be able to witness this beautiful country in all four seasons. Choosing this country to study abroad is a really good idea. Some teachers at Smith’s are Canadians and they are all friendly and caring people. One day, I’d like to visit Canada too.
I’m very happy to see my students at Smith’s Katsura(桂) finding courage to leave their home country and live in a different part of the world.
I remember when I made the same decision long time ago, so excited about the future.
I met new people, made new friends and found my wife.
And I continue discovering new things every day.
It was the best decision in my life and I hope they will feel the same way.
