gma

You are here: Home / Blog / gma

About 2 months ago I was contacted by one of my ex-students as she was asked to write an article on marriage for a local magazine, gma, which is printed by ぱど (Pado). We were honored that she thought of us and happily accepted. At the end of April my ex-student, her sister and a professional photographer came over to our apartment and interviewed us.

A few weeks later I was informed that the editor of the magazine liked our photos so much that we might actually be on the cover. Lo and behold in the latest edition (June) there we were right on the front cover. My ex-student kindly came over and gave me a few copies for myself so I gave each of the students at Smith’s Hirakata a copy and for many of the classes was able to incorporate it into the lesson. The funny thing was that most students didn’t recognize that it was me and my family on the cover.

I did get a few emails from people telling me that they had seen me in the magazine and when I’m walking around the area people sometimes mention it. If you’re on the Keihan line somewhere between Kuzuha and Kyobashi it’s very possible that you’ll see me 🙂

I’d like to give a big thanks to my student who was kind enough to ask us.

Adrian

    Adrian,

That is a great story! Congratulations on that. You and your family look great there on the cover. It is so cool! This reminds us that our students become much more than just students over the years. They can be great friends and can help us to really enjoy living here in Japan. It is a great country and we are honored to be able to provide a service that is needed.
