Get Out and Spend Like an American!

You are here: Home / English School Articles / Get Out and Spend Like an American!

OK, so what’s different now from a few months ago? Have Americans suddenly realized that they are in debt? Duh..where have they been for the past 20 years? The current lack of spending in the US is simply un-American. I am ashamed of my fellow countrymen. You all seem to have lost your identity. Do you suddenly think you are Japanese and need to save and pay off your bills? Heaven forbid! The world is doomed if Americans do not remember who they are. Americans need to get back to being real Americans. Get out there and spend like there is no tomorrow! The world is counting on you! The US government is setting an excellent example. Just follow that and get out there and spend money and rack up some more debt. Debt is as American as Apple Pie.

Here in Japan, I am taking some tentative steps out on the proverbial thin ice. I went shopping during the Monday holiday and so far this month I have spent about 2 or 3 times what I normally do in a month. I am doing my part. Come on you guys! Snap out of it, please!

By the way, isn’t English fun? Just look at all of those phrasal verbs and idioms. English is very graphic. We use words that are not even related to what we are talking about to “paint a picture”. A native speaker cannot help but use these but they really cause trouble for students of English. But you can’t change it so just live with it and enjoy it!

I went out and bought myself a new computer that’ll be coming this weekend. Does that help?

Hey! Excellent! Now that is the spirit. Let’s get things moving again. So if the English can do it, why not the Americans! Have a good one! Thanks for the comment.
