Although most students at Smith’s School of English Katsura are adults, we often play English language games during our conversation lessons. We practice the student’s language targets, helping them progress quickly and teaching them to speak English at a natural pace. A favorite is the speedy ‘Vocabulary Quiz’ or ‘Make a question’ board game.
Whether you are 6 or 60, games are a refreshing way to study and practice English conversation skills. They help nervous students loosen up and help them speak more English during the lesson. Staying relaxed while speaking in a foreign language is important to your communication confidence.
Simple language games help foreign language learners to be fully involved while practicing speaking. Language games help students of all levels participate during the lesson without feeling any pressure.
When I see my students having fun while comfortably speaking English with each other, I know that their communication confidence is building up. I’m happy and proud to say that I see it happen very often in Katsura’s classes. And that’s why even our adult students enjoy and continue to play English language games.
