Fun with My Physics Student

You are here: Home / Blog / Fun with My Physics Student

CERN

Last week I had a lesson with one of my students who is a physics major.  He is always talking about black holes and particle physics so I showed him the latest “Physics Rap Video” that is making a big splash on the web.  Large Hadron Rap (antimatter)

He was ecstatic and plans to show it to all of his fellow physics students.  Well it has now garnered over a million views and its popularity is growing like wildfire.  We also talked about Dan Brown’s book titled Angels and Demons which includes a lot of discussion of the search for antimatter and the activities of CERN.  I think i piqued his piqued his interest and he will most likely try to read the book.  I read it last year and it is certainly a real page-turner and in my opinion it is far better than the Divinci Code.

I agree with you that “Angels and Demons” is better than the “DaVinci Code”. While they both might be too religiously oriented for some they are both very well written. In case you didn’t know “Angels and Demons” will be released next year on May 15th and think the book will garner more interest as the twist is rather clever and the story is more concrete.

Maybe you should suggest that he read the book?! Since you’ve already read it it won’t take you any time to prep for class 🙂

    Adrian,

Thanks. I will recommend it to him. I also noticed that the movie will be out next year (2009) in May so that will most likely increase the popularity.

    Adrian and Al,

I’m with you. “The DaVinci Code” had too much hype, while “Angels and Demons” was the better story. Personally I enjoy reading about physics and so on as I was a Math major in university, so thanks for the nice post Al. On that note I would say Dan Brown’s “Digital Fortress” is better than “DaVinci” and “Angels”.
