Last Saturday, I went out to the movies with a student of my English conversation (英会話) school, Smith’s School of English Tsukaguchi (スミス英会話塚口校). This student loves action movies and my wife and I have been to the movies with him several times. This time I went alone with him as my wife stayed home to take care of our baby Tina (healthy and turning 5 months old tomorrow). We went to the movie theater MOVIX COCOE Amagasaki (MOVIX ココエ尼崎) at COCOE (ココエ), a mall in Amagasaki (尼崎市) not far from Tsukaguchi (塚口) by car. We saw Unstoppable, an action thriller film directed by Tony Scott, written by Mark Bomback and starring Denzel Washington and Chris Pine. It’s about a runaway freight train and two men that try to stop it, based on a true story. The movie was in English with Japanese subtitles. It was exciting and we both enjoyed it. We also enjoyed chowing down on a bucket of popcorn. I taught my student “chow down”, which means to eat, especially to eat vigorously. (^.^) I usually have just caramel popcorn and pop at the movies, but I hadn’t had dinner yet so I felt like something extra. I went with French fries, caramel popcorn and Canada Dry ginger ale. Jokingly, I told my student that the caramel popcorn my dessert. (^.^) I love that ginger ale’s name, which contains my home country’s name, Canada! 🙂 We had a great time! I look forward to another fun outing at the movies with my student. (^.^)
