When I first arrived in Japan I was searching for work but I would always come across flyer distribution, and I would always push them off with a smirk. I never considered doing this service, but since I joined Smiths I was strapped for money and needed to cash quick. To this time I still get up early and have my pile of flyers ready to go with a kindly smile on my face. I do flyers for extra money but I also do it for my school, and I consider handing flyers out to be as satisfying as teaching. I always get a smile from at least eighty percent of the people I meet. The first thing that makes my day is, I meet one or two of my students in the morning. They run over and act as if they’re not expecting to see me, “GOOD MORNING” they shout, eyes flicking to the left and then to the right, making sure people where aware we made a link. This is fantastic and gives me an extra boost. So if you had the same opinion as I did when I first arrived in Japan, believing flyers were not worth my time, you are wrong! You will get a guaranteed kick just at the beginning of your day and that is only the morning. I’m glad to say I pass out flyers at least three days a week and will continue for as long as I can.
