Fishing in Otsu

You are here: Home / Blog / Fishing in Otsu

UnknownHi everyone!

I am from Michigan in the United States. In Michigan we have the Great Lakes. There are also many other smaller lakes. This means that people from Michigan love fishing! In fact, my grandfather was an inventor of fishing equipment. I grew up fishing at the pond near his house. There were many bass and bluegill in the pond. They are good fish to catch because they like to fight you very hard!

Lake Biwa also has many bass and bluegill. After coming to Japan I went there to catch some fish. Lake Biwa is very big, so you can rent a boat to go fishing. You can also fish from the shore. I recommend using a boat and bringing some delicious beverages. I caught only one fish my first time. I became more successful after going a few more times. I wish I had my fishing pole from home that has my name on it! It is very lucky for me.

There are too many bass and bluegill in Lake Biwa, so if you catch any you must keep them or throw them away. If you go to Lake Biwa, you will see many trash cans along the shoreline for throwing away extra fish. Lake Biwa is very beautiful and peaceful, so if you decide to go, please try fishing. Equipment rentals aren’t expensive and it’s very exciting to catch some big fish!

Smith’s School of English in Otsu is not far from Lake Biwa. Please come talk to me about fishing in your English conversation lesson, if you would like!
