Enjoying my family holiday in Izu Nagaoka

Going to Izu Nagaoka for a family holiday

My family decided to spend the family holiday at Izu Nagaoka in Shizuoka, which has beautiful mountains, the sea with fresh fish, relaxing hot springs, a great view on Mount Fuji and is only three hours travelling by Shinkansen – in short everything needed for a perfect holiday.

The area around Izu-Nagaoka is famous for strawberries, tomatoes, Shitake mushrooms and wasabi. Also, there is a UNESCO world heritage site: the Nirayama Reverberatory Furnaces (韮山反射炉). This is the first foundry for canons in Japan and the only of its kind left in the world.

Relaxing at the hotel

At the hotel, we first enjoyed the dinner buffet. The fresh tomatoes were indeed very tasty. I enjoyed them with every meal. Also, there was a lot of delicious fresh fish, crab, roast beef and a lot more wonderful dishes. After the dinner, we enjoyed the large hot spring of the hotel. Hot springs a such a pleasure in Japan.

On the second day, we went down to the sea. It was only 20 minutes by bus. The water was so clear that we could watch the fish eating the bait while we were fishing!

Also, there are two (!) aquariums right next to each other. So we visited one of them. Touching a living deep sea crab was the favorite  for my son.

On the last day, we all came home very relaxed and satisfied with the nice family holiday in Izu Nagaoka!
