Every week I find lots of great videos. Some are educational, some are odd, others are just fun. Every week I’ll be posting my favorite videos here, just for you. Though not always English study videos, all of them can be useful to you in your English studies. Can’t understand everything you see or hear? Don’t worry about it- it takes many many years of study to be able to understand 100% of what you hear. I’ve studied Japanese since ’07 and I barely understand 30% of the dialogue in most of the Japanese movies I watch. So give yourself a hand if you can understand even 5% after only a few years of study. I suggest you watch each video at the least 3 times- the 1st time just to get the general idea behind the clip the 2nd time try to get better detail, the final time to really bring it all together. Hope you can learn something new!
This week’s video is about a bike race. No- not in Japan. No- not your usual bike race. This video is about the BC Bike Race, held annually in British Columbia, Canada. This is a series of mountain bike races held across the province, on hillsides, through parks, over mountains. This event is held rain or shine and they post a video everyday, but I chose to show you the rainiest day! Mud galore, filthy riders, dirty bikes, slippery trails- everything we Canadians love in a bike race. Although the video is mostly music, there are some short interviews which are full of Canadian-isms. Students- try your best to understand the comments the riders make, although short, they can be tricky to catch. Check it out!
