dreams

You are here: Home / Blog / dreams

Keiko's booksSitting across the table from my students in my classroom I often hear about students’ dreams. As they come to Smith’s 英会話 it comes as no surprise that many of them say that they want to speak English fluently but it’s not the only thing I hear; some want to live abroad to experience life, others want to create their own company while sometimes their dreams are as simple as riding horses with their children. No matter what their dream is if I can be involved then it gives me great pleasure. I have helped students get into good schools, pass tests and find jobs but a few years ago I was asked to help a student write a book. I must say I was rather honored. The result was “The Greatest Gift” and it was an amazing experience for both of us. Despite all the hard work that it had taken to finish my student decided to do it all again and asked me to, once again, assist her with the English section. “The Call that Changed My Life” proved to be even harder but we both enjoyed the challenge. Last November the book was released and is available at many of the bigger book stores as well as Amazon. Both books contain short stories which can be read in a few minutes making them excellent choices to read a bit at a time, so if you’re looking for a book to pass the time I encourage you to check them out. As an added bonus they are both in English and Japanese so they make great books for higher level students of either language to use as study material.

Seeing her books in the bookstores always makes me smile because I know that I did my part in helping her achieve her dream. It’s one of the reasons that I love my job.
