Beat the [Summer] Heat

You are here: Home / Blog / Beat the [Summer] Heat

The super summer heat this year really makes me feel like I’m melting. It saps my strength and drains my energy, leaving me feeling drowsy and lazy and useless. So last week I decided to sets some goals to help me beat the heat. I started by asking myself what my symptoms were and then thought about how to beat them. First off, I’m tired everyday. Solution: go to bed earlier, sleep better, sleep longer. How did I achieve this? I opened more windows, changed sleeping arrangements, and forced myself to go to bed earlier. Et voila! Feeling better already. Second, this lack of energy problem. In summer it’s hot, so we sweat more, have less appetite and tend to move slower, thus slowing down our circulation. Solution: drink lots and lots of water, eat healthy and well-proportioned meals, and stay active. I set a goal of 3 liters of water a day. This does not include juice or tea or coffee. that’s extra. 3 liters of water everyday. Better and better. Finally- this feeling of uselessness I was having. Sure, I got up every day, went to work, played with my son and so on. But Ineeded something more. Solution: set a small and achievable project for yourself, make a plan to get it done, and do it. I did just that, and having completed that project yesterday, now feel fulfilled, having done something measurable and been able to see the results myself makes me feel proud of my hard work. No matter how simplke the project may seem, setting the goal, planning how to achieve it and then doing it give you a sense of purpose, and gets something done too! Try it for yourself and beat the heat this summer. You’ll feel much better- guaranteed.
