When I ask students why they want to learn English a common response is because they want to be able to watch movies without subtitles. When I ask those students who their favorite actor one name always comes up – Johnny Depp. One of my students is such an avid fan that she even traveled to Tokyo last December to see him live. In class she told us about her adventure and brought us some photos as proof. We all enjoyed listening to her story and it helped spark off a good conversation. While my student wasn’t able to actually talk to him and use her English she hopes that next time he comes to Japan she’ll be able to. Until that time all of us at Smith’s 英会話 in Hirakata will do our best to help her improve.

    Adrian,

Having specific goals is a key to improving your English skills (in fact it’s the key to success is most areas). It’s wonderful that your student has such a handsome hunk to keep her motivated!

Well said Edward…yeah, when I was younger I memorized a play (my mother’s bribery worked magic). I learnt Japanese (because I wanted to communicate). I learnt magic (thanks to my students). If you have enough whys the how becomes easy.
