I read Edward’s post about a student’s trip story using the morning routine and thought I would like to add a bit in a similar vein here.
I was reviewing the Lawson’s story, but wanted to add a twist, I pulled out a photo and erased some of the words in the Lawsons story so it looked like this:
He stands outside ______ thinking about ______. He decides to ______ so he ______.
He looks for ______ and finds it ______. Now he has a problem! He can’t decide whether he feels like ______ or ______. He ______, ______, and ______.
I then let my student create a story using the Lawsons framework, and changing into third person. the story would not make sense without the photo, so I won’T go into it here.
I just wanted to add this as my own twist on a great Smith theme (story) that can be extended quite a bit, limited by photos and imagination.
Thanks for the inspiration Edward!
Les-
I’m glad my post inspired you. Your method is yet another way of teaching a routine, and I way I had not thought of. I’ll be trying your method soon- thanks for the return inspiration!
