Hi! This is Sven from the Smith’s school of English Fuse, Higashi Osaka. Last week, I went to Mito station(弥刀駅) on the Kintetsu Osaka line (近鉄大阪線) to promote our English conversation school (英会話学校) in Fuse. Mito station(弥刀駅) is a local station in a peaceful residential area. I always think that it is a nice area to live because it is so peaceful and relaxed.
Some years ago, I was passing out flyers there as well. People in Mito are friendly and nice, so I had an enjoyable time at the station. When I nearly finished, the owner of one of the shops stopped his scooter in front of it and he went inside. After some time, he came out again and greeted me in Japanese. We began to talk and he asked for a flyer. He looked at it, then he said surprised: “Oh! Smith’s English school! We have the same name! My pub is called Smith’s (‘Sumisu), to0!” As we spoke Japanese, Smith’s (スミス) and ‘Sumisu’ (すみ巣) are pronounced the same. We both were surprised and laughed.
Since that day, we often chat for a while at his pub すみ巣 and we have become friends. I do not go often to Mito station, but I always look forward to meeting him. When we met last week, we decided to get a photo taken and show the world this international ‘Smith’s’ friendship!
Some foreigners come to his pub すみ巣 regularly, so there is a chance for some English conversation (英会話) in a relaxed atmosphere. It is famous for Oden (おでん) and being not so expensive. A click on the name will lead to some comments.
Many of the English conversation students actually start learning English at the Smith’s school of English Fuse to be able to become friends with foreigners and start an international friendship, too! I hope that all students of English conversation schools (英会話学校) will make many, many friends around the world!
