Every time I go overseas I always bring something back as a souvenir for the students. I feel this goes a long way in that students know that you think about them even when on vacation.
I don’t know whether due to this they are obliged to return souvenirs when they also go overseas, I’m not quite sure, but the fact remains it’s very pleasurable to give and receive gifts.
On my return from England I gave my students English tea bags, I feel that’s a safe bet for all and always seems to be a winner in choosing an appropriate gift.
Before I left to England and upon my return the seasons are slowly changing from summer to autumn. It really has been a bumper year in regards to seasonal gifts from the students. Here’s a list of some food stuff I have received.
A box of apples
A box of Oranges
A box of Mushrooms
A bag of Lemons
Some beer
A plethora of Japanese snacks
Sweet potatoes
More beer
I’m sure as autumn turns to winter there will undoubtedly be more mouthwatering gifts coming my way.
Take a thought when on your next trip to make the time to think of your students and buy them something, because you may be surprised how much they will appreciate it and how much satisfaction you will get in return.
