As I started serving students drinks today in the lounge, one lady came in who looked really familiar but I couldn’t quite place her face. I thought about it for a while and when she finally entered my class, I remembered where I had seen her before. She’d been a regular student at Smith’s School of English, Kyobashi, but had taken a while off to go on an adventure of her own. And now she was back with tales of her adventure, some very shocking since I hadn’t seen her in so long and had no idea where she’d gotten to.
We spent the first portion of the lesson doing a lot of catching up. She was an endless supply of stories and very excited to be back at Smith’s so the class was charged with a very positive atmosphere. By the time we got into the material I had planned before she arrived, she was ready to learn and get back on track with her English. Throughout the lesson, we paused quite a bit while she got out little tidbits of information that she wished to share. After we wrapped up the lesson with her new one point, she enthusiastically thanked me and said that she had had a great time and was happy to be back.
