A Beautiful Thing in Kyoto Rarely Photographed

You are here: Home / Blog / A Beautiful Thing in Kyoto Rarely Photographed

Rarely in the winter, that is!  During the good ‘ole rainy season which held firm until just a week ago, I’m pretty sure it was a common sight, but this photo isn’t!  We think rainy season is well over but there is still fringe speculation of a late return.

Can you guess where this was taken from?  On the 17th floor of the Okura Hotel, a very nice place to hang out and see kimono-clad ladies from Kyoto society.  The view over toward the east is quite spectacular and with binoculars it is possible to make out  many famous temples and sight-seeing places.  Only the food, accessible by oneself over a wide area of buffet tabled floor while friendly service brings drinks, needed something ever-so-slightly more to be truly desired, but hey, we came for the view.

This particlar photo is decent but it doesn’t give us the true panoramic feel of actually being there.  Imagine at least 2 more photos to the right and another two to the left to get the full extent of the panorama!  Wow, who cares if the french fries were frozen and microwaved!  Ha Ha!

Nice photo. You can see Daimonji in the background. When was it taken?
