Hey Everyone!
Usually we like to have all kinds of New Year’s resolutions and I think those are important. It is already December and the reality of another new year coming hasn’t really yet sunk in, at least not until we get through Christmas, but I’m starting to think about it already!
Throughout most of my life, I have tended to think in terms of three-year intervals, not that 1-week or 1-year goals aren’t important, but that sometimes obstacles you didn’t plan for get in the way and because three years is just a good, no-nonsense time-frame within which to plan and work.
I have had a variety of character-building experiences in the last three years. Some of them were obstacles that needed to be overcome. Given the unstable political situation in many developing countries and the general economic condition of the developed world many new challenges have been created. In addition to that, just getting older can present its own set of challenges. But the Mayan calendar prediction for Dec 2012 cannot possibly be for real! I think we are just on the cusp of a long period of good news ahead! 2013 will be a year in which many world problems are dealt with, and an improvement in a wide variety of areas will be felt.
Some of the biggest challenges in life are to be met with courage, patience, integrity, diligence and effort. Other challenges may require a larger measure of pure will while still others depend mainly on experience. Avoid negatives and look for reasons to turn any unpleasant circumstances into positive, productive learning experiences.
Another round of goal-setting is in order, and I’m looking forward to 2013 to get going on them!
The english conversation students at the Smith’s School of English in Kotoen スミス英会話 甲東園校 love to discuss this and I have made it a part of my Kotoen Business Course – goal-setting, decision-making, taking action and following up with measurement.
But first let’s enjoy the wonderful holiday season! Christmas 2012 is just about upon us! Take care!
