2011 Fireworks Festival – Last Minute Update and New Additions

You are here: Home / Blog / 2011 Fireworks Festival – Last Minute Update and New Additions

Well, it seems I have compiled the full festival list for the summer of 2011 at last !!  Some of the fireworks displays were expected to be canceled because of the the Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami, but in the end weren’t.  Foreigners are believed to stay away this summer but locals may be in the mood to travel more this year so crowds are anticipated everywhere.  Some of the festivals  which had their usual dates were moved around to other dates.  One of main reasons for this is to avoid too much congestion at any one event.  This may be of most concern at Yodogawa, Uji, Kobe Minato, Biwako Otsu and, of course PL, which is expected to collect as many as 600,000 people.  Others that were thought to be canceled were given the green light.  Here goes:

July 23 Ashiya Summer Carnival   July 25 Tenjin Matsuri  July 30 Ayabe Minazuki  July 31 Maizuru Chatta Matsuri

Aug 1 PL  and Hikone   Aug 4 Nagahama  Aug 5 Nara Tokae Start Date  Aug 5 and 6 Takarazuka

Aug 6 The Big Yodogawa Hanabi Taikai and the Kobe Minato Hanabi Taikai

Aug 8 Otsu Biwako Daihanabi Taikai  and Kameoka Hotsukawa (not confirmed yet)     Aug 10 Uji-gawa

Aug 14 Nara Tokae Finish Date  Aug 15 Fukuchiyama Dokkoise  Aug 16  Daimonji and Tsuruga Tohronagashi Hanabi Taikai and Miyazu Tohronagashi

Aug 20 Inagawa hanabi Taikai and Itami will also have a festival around this date.

Watch out for the crowds, bring lots of water to drink, protect yourself from the strong UV in the daytime and, this time, leave the wheels at home!

Enjoy!
