Last Friday evening I and several students from Smiths School of English in Fuse had the pleasure of enjoying some delicious food and drinks together with my former student who is now living and working in New Zealand but has returned to Japan for a short visit.
I knew she has a very busy schedule while here visiting so I greatly appreciated that she took the time to join us for several hours in the evening at… a wonderful izakaya (居酒屋) located in Kintetsu Shuntokumichi Station (近鉄俊徳道駅) which is located one stop down from Kintetsu Fuse Station （近鉄布施駅） on the Kintetsu Osaka Line in Higashi Osaka. (東大阪市)
Many students regularly read her blog, written in Japanese over on our Japanese soapbox, in which she describes the challenges and surprises of her new life in New Zealand. Many of my students are very interested to hear her story first-hand about never giving up on her dream and how her life has changed since she moved to New Zealand.
She discussed various topics like searching for an apartment, trying to understand the public transportation system and more serious topics like applying for residency for herself and her daughter and also her ambitions for the future.
We had a wonderful time together at Yurari Izakaya located in Kintetsu Shuntokumichi Station in Higashi Osaka. （ゆらり 居酒屋 俊徳道 東大阪）
The service was excellent, always with a smile, and the hand-prepared dishes are both very reasonable and delicious! If you are in the area I highly recommend stopping by.
If you are lucky the owners may even exchange some English phrases with you! Try it!

Yurari Izakaya（ゆらり 居酒屋）is run by a very friendly mother-daughter team and they always make sure everyone has a good experience while there.
I’m happy that I chose this location for our special party and everyone went home with many smiles and good memories after the party.
