It is now more than a week since 20 of us gathered to party with fellow Smith’s School of English- Koenji students at our favourite local haunt – izakaya Don Bei.
This was the first time that we had our usual Sunday night June party on a Saturday night in July. A decision that turned out to be a good one as we had a wonderful time chatting, drinking and eating.with new friendships being formed and old ones renewed. We met at 7:30pm and finished up at around 10:30pm although eight of us went onto a nearby Karaoke place where we stayed until about 12:30pm. I also heard a rumour that three people even had the temerity to stop for one further drink on the way home.- unreal! .
The photographs taken at Don Bei without a doubt indicate that those in attendance had a pleasurable time. I encouraged the participants to circulate and the photographs taken visibly demonstrate that, that happened..
Students are already asking me when the next party will be held. A decision has therefore been made to let pupils know in advanced that it will be in October although in the meantime we are working on having a day out at Fuchu Racecourse before then so that we can plan for an even bigger event in November – “A Day at the Japan Cup”
