Before October comes to an end I want to give you an up date on our September party. It was as usual a very enjoyable event, with a lot excitement and laughter with students catching up with each other and renewing friendships and having a relaxing evening of chatting and merriment, coupled with food and a few drinks, including some Australian wine.
I took over 80 photographs, some of which accompany this updated.
About 27 students and their friends attended along with Dean (from Kichijoji), Jean Marc (a French friend of mine) and Stephen (a former Ogikubo teacher) which presented the students with plenty of opportunities to speak English if they so desired.
We had expected a few more students however a very wild storm at 5pm caused much havoc and 6 expected guess cancelled at the last minute. It was however great to see many new students present.
The party was also the last time, for a while, that students could get to talk with the Tanakas (Hirokazu and Kawori – both students) who have re-located, for business reasons, to Virginia USA. I was extremely sad to see them off however it was pleasing to know that with their dedication I have been able to equipped them with a solid English Language foundation and have no doubt within a month or so, they will be communicating in the US like native speakers. My best wishes go with them.
I have since received a couple of emails from Hirokazu bringing me up to date on their settling in process.
Our next get together, the Smith School of English – Koenji year end party, is scheduled for December 7th.
Great attendance considering the storm! Your students seem to be a great bunch, keep up the good work! I’d love to come to one of your party’s one day and meet your students…. too bad I’m so far away!
