As 2008 rapidly is coming to its end, Christmas is but one week away, it is time for me to think back over the year and acknowledge that being my own boss under the Smith’s School of English franchise umbrella, creating relationships with fellow franchisees and friendships with students is one very beautiful way to not only make a living but more importantly to establish a fantastic lifestyle. The afore mentioned items are all part of the foundation of being in, working in and enjoying the nation that is Japan, a country that never ceases to amaze me.
Throughout the year Smith’s School of English – Koenji had numerous get togethers with the most recent one being our year end party on December 7th. Twenty two students and friends participated in it. Five students made last minute cancellations because they had caught the flu, which I subsequently came down with as well. We all had a great night and new friendships were nurtured and old ones cemented.
Results in a Smith’s School of English franchise come from being friendly and meeting the needs and expectations of your clients (the students), naturally being the owner of a franchise means that you need to work smartly to promote your business and with the support of Smith’s head office staff you have plenty of time to devote yourself to this very important ingredient in creating a profitable and pleasurable business. It should be remembered however that word of mouth advertising is of paramount importance and your student base is your most valuable resource.
Thank you for making the year of the Mouse a splendid one and may you all have a wonderful Christmas and a most exciting and rewarding 2009 – the year of the Bull, Cow or Ox which ever you prefer to call it. Success in the year of the Ox requires conscientious effort and it is a great time to put your house in order. Frivolities are out! “No work, no pay!” Time waits for no body, if we are too lazy to sow then we can blame no one but ourselves if we have nothing to reap. Go promote and harvest new students and friendships. No time is better than now.
