スミス英会話岡本校の町岡本は生き生きしてる Okamoto Rocks!

La PostI really like Okamoto. There are so many great restaurants near my school where I can meet students for coffee or just have a great lunch or dinner. One such place is La Post. They serve a great lunch for around 1000 Yen. Great salad with proscuitto, pickles and dressing, great pasta and meat dishes and excellent bread. You can ask for seconds on the bread. They also have a good selection of Italian wines and the lunch comes with coffee or tea. The restaurant is extremely comfortable with many tables and a lot of counter space. The proscuitto is hanging over the counter to air-dry. The ceiling is draped in fabric to give the impression you are dining outside in a tent but theproscuitto temperature of the restaurant is just right making it a good place to escape from the summer heat and humidity and enjoy a pleasant lunch. Lunchtime is very popular for the local crowd. Check it out the next time you are in Kobe and drop by my school.  If I have some time, I’ll be happy to show you around.

Smith’s School of English – Okamoto

My school is about 100 meters from La Post and located on the second floor of a three story building that has a popular cafe (Cafe DECO) and crepe shop (L’air de Temp). The crepes never fail to provide a delicious fragrance for my students to enjoy as they ascend the single flight of stairs to enter my school. Bougainvillia is a nice touch too, don’t you think?

    Al-

You have a great way with words, and this story makes my mouth water. One of the highlights of life in Japan is the amazing food, and you’ve hit the nail on the head. Your location sounds like an excellent place for English learning and excellent cuisine.

    Ed,

Thanks for the comment! This restaurant’s manager is always quite nice. The other day I asked for a glass of red wine as I had many hours before my first class. Normally, he serves it in a very small wine glass but on this occasion he served a 2006 Barbera d’Asti in a much larger glass. With its smokey flavor and a concentration of caramel and herbs it was delicious. The food there too, as you can see from the pictures is well presented and the taste is something to be savored. Come over for lunch sometime, my treat!
