A green level student attended my lesson today and as soon as he walked through the door he had a huge beaming smile on his face and said,”I’m on top of the world”. He had learnt this previously in an idiom class I taught about a month ago.
I replied, “So what’s the good news?” He had finally, passed the test of rank (level) 6 of Kyudo (Japanese Archery). He has been telling me time and time again that he felt he would never overcome this level. Believe it or not, to achieve this feat it had taken him 20 years to finally reach level 6. The highest rank by the way is level 10. So I guess he must be pretty good.
He told me in detail that it isn’t only being able to hit the target dead centre the judges also look for posture, appearance, agility, grace and of course target points, each are judged. So overall, you have to be at your best in all categories.
I believe we here at Smith’s have these same traits in some kind of way and I guess that’s what makes us a great T.E.A.M. and unique from other schools.
After hearing his story it gave me inspiration to try harder and never to give up on my goals too. In the short term (STAGS) and the long term (LTAGS).
