As soon as I noticed my next student in the lounge, last week’s lesson flashed through my memory. I remembered it being quite energetic, and that student in particular had made a comment at the end of the lesson. She had thanked me for the lesson and had said that she had had an ‘amazing’ time. But even when we started off with last week’s one point, I was still caught off guard and pleasantly surprised to hear her say, “I was looking forward to your lesson because your lessons are FANTASTIC!” Wow! Did that ever make my day! Being able to make the students happy and come away from the lesson with such positive feelings really makes my decision of choosing to work in an English school worthwhile.
On top of that wonderful compliment, she stayed behind for a few extra minutes in order to tell me a story about Osaka Castle. I really enjoyed hearing about the rich history of the castle as well as the people who had previously inhabited it. We laughed a lot and traded many stories about Osaka, some of which she had never heard. I am definitely looking forward to seeing her again next week.
