I had a student the other night who has only been at Smith’s for 4 weeks. His English is quite basic so when he gave me an example of his one point, I had made a comment and then he replied with a one point from two weeks ago, I was very impressed.
It was his first man-to-man lesson so we went over the last questions for routine 1 The Morning. From this he had learnt a few more words and got a bit more confident to speak in English, rather than Japanese. I was pleased with how quickly we got through the sentences considering that he didn’t have any help from other students this time.
We moved onto the item Prepositions 1. This exposed him to new vocab and tested his listening skills by answering questions I had asked him, this also got him to speak a bit more English aswell, even though there was the odd sentence in Japanese in there.
Our one point for today was ‘Sounds good!’, he got this pretty much straight away so I hope he practices and can use it next week in his next lesson.
