This morning I was awoken by an earthquake, and thought it had been awhile since I’d felt one of any significance. Thankfully I have never been in an earthquake that did any more damage than to toss a plastic honey-bear bottle on the floor. The clean-up took all of 10 minutes, but that earthquake was large enough to generate a line at the beer machine afterwards!
Speaking of shake ups, I’m really looking forward to the marketing meeting in the Tokyo area in November. It has been raining here, seemingly for days on end. Oh, wait. It HAS been ~ this is day three. The morning train station flyer handouts don’t happen under the shroud of umbrellas, and so far I have found a mysterious scarcity of mailboxes to put flyers into. I did give away one flyer today, at the beauty counter at Okajima where I had made a purchase. The young lady had gotten me to agree to sign up for direct mail marketing from her company, so it seemed the perfect opportunity for some quid pro quo. She looked a bit bedazzled and tongue-tied at receiving this, but it’s okay. She found her voice again and we chatted for a bit longer. But I’m looking to shake things up, try new marketing ideas, really get the word out that Smith’s School of English is here! I hope to learn a lot at that meeting next month!
And I hope to meet all my Tokyo-area fellow franchisees! See you there ~ sue
