Recently the cutest little thing happened at both my Smith’s School Kotoen and Fukushima Franchises. At both schools, I was working on a supplementary practice lesson which reviews and solidifies the use of present perfect continuous tense in daily usage.
Both students had commented several times that they thought the tense was very difficult and that they didn’t feel confident to use it accurately in conversation. So I asked them both the standard of all questions in our industry, “How long have you been studying English?”
“I’ve been studying English since I was a junior high school student!” were their replies.
“Well, I’m very pleased to say that you are bright and a very quick learner! That was a perfect answer!”
It’s little moments like this that makes my job great!
