Music was my life for so many years. I got paid a decent salary to play the trombone, and during that time I learned to love jazz. Ten years ago I pretty much stopped playing but it is impossible for me to stop listening. I listen everyday. Jazz goes daily, for hours in my classroom as I am “working.” It is a part of my school that every student expects to hear in my classroom…Tonite one of my students was trying to tell me that she liked the music (David Sanborn, saxophone)…So there came my one-point for the lesson…”It’s cool!” Next time she comes, I will ask her how she likes the music and she will surely say “it’s cool.” I think so too. What a job I have…My choice of music, my choice from the curriculum, and my choice of how to present, practice, and apply (within the loop). It’s cool!!!
