Escape to Tama

You are here: Home / Blog / Escape to Tama

Recently a good friend of mine (Shawn) who is affiliated with the United States military here in Japan was able to rent a cottage located at “Tama Recreation Center,” a nice natural hideout and escape from the Tokyo concrete! For 85 US dollars (cabin rental, not per person) four of us stayed in a very secluded cabin, completely loaded with everything and anything we needed. Two floors, three bedrooms, jacuzzi, and a golf cart to cruise around the area. It poured rain the whole time but that didn’t stop us from barbequing lots of goodies and several dips in the jacuzzi.

…And to think this place is located in Tokyo Prefecture, just 20 miles or so from the center of the city…We all need an escape every now and then and that was just perfect. Thank you Shawn.

Japan is an amazing land of adventure. It never ceases to amaze me how many great place people discover. Even more amazing are the ones discovered so near to the center of a big city. Nice discovery Jim!

That place looks like heaven, Jim!
    Can you post more information?
Perhaps their location, phone number, and a website?
I would really really love to go!
    Thanks,
    Deana

Unfortunately Deana, Tama Hills Recreation Center is reserved for US military members and their guests. I was lucky enough to be someone’s guest. I don’t have the url but the website is easy enough to find, just search “Tama Hills Recreation Center.” jim
