Last week, during a lesson with 3 students, the topic of curry came up. Mike mentioned that he makes a great Thai-style curry, and this peaked the students’ curiosity. At the end of the lesson he promised to make them curry for the next week. Mike was excited to show off his favorite dish! As promised, he went shopping to the foreign food market to get the ingredients and prepared a tasty yellow curry (with chicken, Japanese sweet potato, pineapple, among other things). After their lesson last night, we all gathered round and had a nice meal of brown rice with Thai curry and chilled green tea. What a pleasure! We sure do love to take care of our students, and taking time to do things together is very rewarding for us. The 3 students (and the 2 of us) all had a great time and filled ourselves up on delicious curry! We often go out with students, to get to know them better, and to give them a chance to use their English. But last night we enjoyed sharing something home-made, which is quite special, really, considering we don’t cook often! We all had a great time and went home with full bellies! Looking forward to our next chance!
