Last night after finishing my last lesson at about 10:00 p.m. I walked to the Hankyu Okamoto station with my student and on the way, we passed some young university students who were gathered outside the local izakaiya. Two of the girls said, “Smith’s Sensei” and waved to me and my student as we passed. I returned the gesture and as I turned back to the front, I was trying to place their faces among my students when I realized that they had taken a trial lesson a few weeks ago. They have not yet decided to join but maybe seeing me last night will make them think about it and perhaps they will join soon. In any case it is nice to be recognized and receive a friendly wave in my adopted home town of Okamoto. Actually, this was the second time this has happened in the past two weeks. Maybe I will see these young students in my classroom in the near future. I hope so. Well back to work. The fun continues!
