A Happy New Year to everyone, 2010 is shaping up to be a good year. I apologize for not having written in a while but I’ve had a few things to take care of. The good news is that I have quite a few stories to share so over the next few weeks keep your eyes posted. As Smith’s is an 英会話 (a conversational school) various topics get discussed over and over; one of them being – movies. During the X-Mas holidays I was quite busy being dad but I was able to slip away for a few hours to watch AVATAR, the new movie that James Cameron directed. To be honest with you I can’t say I was convinced when I saw the trailer that this movie would be really worth going to the movie theater for, even in 3D but over the past few weeks I had heard about it’s impressive results at the box office and decided that after the holidays I would check it out. That changed when I heard my friend’s opinion and how the 3D effect was so incredible and was so worth watching in the theater. My wife and I watched it the first chance we got and let me tell you – it is worth ALL THE HYPE. I have seen numerous 3D movies but AVATAR is unlike any I’ve seen before. It’s the future of movies. While it is slightly more expensive to watch it in 3D I can honestly say that I would gladly pay it, again?! It’s just that good. One of my friends watched it in 2D and had I seen it with him, I’m guessing that I would have given it a 8.0/10…but in 3D I must give it a 9.5/10 and would say that though the story is simple, the acting decent and the action good, the true star of the movie is the experience of being on an alien planet. I can’t speak more highly of it.
Watch it!! You won’t be disappointed.

Hi Adrian!
Thank you for the recommendation. A student of mine invited me to go see this movie at a movie theater on Rokko Island in Kobe. We saw it last Saturday. It was in 2D and was very good! I want to go and see it in 3D. I have decided to make it my school’s next event!

It’s a completely different movie in 3D, in fact, the 3D itself was the main attraction. Not sure how much you’ll enjoy it the 2nd time round but I am sure that the 3D will amaze you.
