I had a lesson with two students who are friends and come every Monday. One of them happened to be married so, this helped alot with the one point which was ‘It was love at first sight’.
We did the routine ‘The restaurant’ which was the first time these two students had done this. At the start they had a little trouble remembering the story with quite a few grammatical errors. By the end of it they both could repeat the whole story back to me with no problem. They also ended up getting a few new words to add to their vocabulary.
Our item for this lesson was ‘Ability 1’. They seemed to really enjoy it when they were learning the different ways to ask and answer the ability questions using ‘too’ and ‘enough’.
Our one point was ‘I’ve changed my mind’ when I wrote this on the board they both looked at eachother with a puzzled look on their faces. Once I explained it to them and gave them some examples, they did the same in return.
When they went to get up and leave they were trying to tell me something but didn’t know how to say it in English, and since I don’t speak very much japanese I wasn’t much help to them, so I gave them a Japanese-English dictionary to use. Once they had found what they were looking for they said “We have really enjoyed this lesson.” I was very pleased to hear that. I think it made my day.
