Everyone probably missed the first fireworks on Saturday, July 13th at Hikone and at Echizen Coast. They have come and gone, but likely it was impossible to attend so no problem. From here on, focus is on festivals that most of us in Kansai can easily consider, but on the day of the show do not, repeat DO NOT attempt to arrive or depart by car.
All of the following have good rail access, but because of the crowds be sure to dress comfortably, don’t carry big items and give yourself lots and lots of time. Be patient, go slow, have no unrealistic expectations and you’ll have a good time!
July 17 Wed – Gion Matsuri Parade, Kyoto – This festival has already been in full swing for days!
July 25 Thu – Tenjin Matsuri Fireworks, Osaka
July 27 Sat – Ashiya Hama Hanabi Summer Festival
Aug 1 Thu – PL, Tondabayashi – Super Big
Aug 3 Sat – Kobe Minato
Aug 4 Sun – Kakogawa
Aug 7 Wed – Takarazuka Aug 8 Thu – Shiga Biwako – Big Aug 9 Fri – Uji Aug 10 Sat – Yodogawa – Big
Aug 11-14 – The last four days of Nara Tohkae are beautiful. Aug 15 Thu – Fukuchiyama
