When I was a young boy I played with some toy tanks and trucks that I later learned had been my grandfather’s toys. My father had then played with them as a kid and I had inherited them. I still have them today and was able to find them in my room when I went to visit this past X-Mas. Now with my son almost two it’s his turn. Hard to believe that 4 generations of Shepherds will have played with the same toys. Sadly I never got to meet my grandfather but every time I see my toys I think of everything they must have been through. They’re made of steel and have taken a licking over the years but they’ve managed to survive for over 90 years!! As it’s the only thing I have from my grandfather I find myself collecting from my travels around the world so that I can pass them on to my son, and he his children.
