One of the coolest outtings you can do with your family or with your students on a day off in Osaka, other than Universal Studios of course, is the Kaiyukan Aquarium at Tempozan.
The facility has been around now since the mid-1990s and it isn’t the most modern or the most impressive aquarium in the world anymore. But it’s still pretty good. And it’s worth noting that when it was designed and built just 20 years ago, it was state-of-the-art by a very wide margin. Students at the Smith’s School of English in Kotoen who have not been are going to be amazed! スミス英会話 甲東園.
Of particular importance is its educational focus on natural science and respect for the environment. Indicator species are well-displayed throughout the ‘Ring of Fire’ theme which walks everyone through the various core marine ecosystems in the Pacific.
But nothing prepares you for the main tank in the center of the facility. It’s about 10m across and 12m deep, plenty big enough for several scuba divers to frolic among the manta ray and whale sharks!
