Hello to everybody! Looking through the old posts of the school in Fuse, Higashi Osaka, I just found out that this is my first post since the holidays! I`m so sorry! That does not mean that Fuse has become inactive. No, on the contrary, we had a quite busy and exciting time! The best news is that we have a new sign on the street showing all the people who pass by on the busy street the school is located at that we are here! It is quite nice and the bright colors make certain that it will catch the eye of virtually everybody who walks by from the station!
One of the students who signed this year told me that she had quite some problems finding the school. About the same time another student advised me that I should get a big sign board so everybody from the train will spot the school more easily. (I am still thinking about it.) So far, I thought that the big letters in the window would be seen by everybody. After the comments of my students I had a look again. And really, big letters in the window are perfect to show your school to the people from the other side of the street, but people walking on the sidewalk on the same side have no chance to see it. Certainly there are some flags on the street, but it seems that the writing on the flags is not recognized as easily as that on a sign.
So I talked to the manager, who was so kind to help choosing a nice place for the new sign and got the permission from the owner for me. Than I ordered a suitable one from the Smith`s franchise web page and asked head office to make some small adjustments to the original design for me, which they did in a fabulous way. Everything went very easy and smooth, and when I came back from the holidays, I did not need to wait long to receive it. The biggest problem was than to get the necessary tools to put it on the wall. My neighbor, who runs a hair-dresser, was so kind to help me out with that, so that since last Thursday this wonderful new sign is right next to the stairs to the school.
Talking about location, I always found it an advantage that the school is located on a busy (and thus noisy) main road in Fuse, Higashi Osaka. Even though a quieter place might seem nice and will probably be a little cheaper, I would never consider leaving this location. To the standard ways of getting new students, I can add two more groups. We always some people who just walked by and had an interest in English Conversation. Actually, quite a high percentage of them also book a trial and join the school. What an easy and also cheap way of doing advertising! Then we also have some students who saw the school from the train! As we have the name and phone number in big letters in the window, it is possible to spot and contact head office just by looking out of the train window! I think that is great. I love this location. Some went so far to get of the train in Fuse, Higashi-Osaka, on their way home just to get more information about the school! We sure do our best to make them all feel welcome.
