Last weekend, I went to Awaji Island, southwest of Kobe. I was able to cross the Akashi Bridge, the longest suspension bridge in the world. The view of Kobe was great!
While on Awaji Island, I went to Yume Butai, a building designed by Tadao Ando, a famous Japanese architect. There is a great botanical garden with many orchids at Yume Butai. I could stop and smell the roses, or in this case, smell the orchids!
This week, I talked with my students at Smith’s Eikaiwa Fukushima (スムス英会話福島) about Awaji. I teach florists, garden designers, and travel enthusiasts, so each student had their own experience with this part of Japan. It’s so much fun to share these stories!
