Last Saturday, a former and very popular English Conversation student from The Smith’s School of English in Kotoen スミス英会話 甲東園 and I had lunch together at Heaven’s Kitchen. This student has lived in several countries for business throughout his life but has always come back to his roots right here in Kotoen 甲東園. His ancestors have been prominent here for three previous generations and two generations follow him now. In keeping with his love for the area, he is a strong believer in helping his fellow man. Whenever a new restaurant or izakaya opens in the Kotoen area, and I must say that happens very often, he is always eager to try it out and support the effort.
His motto is profound. He says, “I believe in supporting local business. Huge brands in local towns do not need our support as much as our fellow citizens. They are working hard to deliver better quality and better value in the face of immense competition and vast economies of scale.”
Owning businesses abroad has kept him on the road a lot in the past couple of years, but as it comes time for him to wind down those activities, he thinks about making time to come back to my Smith’s school to study again. I’m looking forward to the time when that can happen.
Meanwhile, Heaven’s Kitchen+Plus in Kotoen 甲東園 is working hard every day to produce great meals at fair prices. These great meals are nutritious, appetizing and fulfilling and the local operator deserves to be successful. What more can you expect?
