Osaka is a city of many great museums.
Many people may often overlook this city as a major Japanese cultural centre, instead focusing more on Kyoto and Tokyo.
However, Osaka more than holds its own when it comes to culture. This is especially good news because Smiths School of English is based right here in Osaka!
The museums in Osaka are quite impressive due to the scale, variety and detail that many of the permanent and special exhibitions have.
Some of the excellent museums that I have already visited include: Osaka Castle, Natural History Museum, Peace Osaka, Liberty Osaka, National Museum of Art, and The History Museum.
The Floating Garden Observatory and Cosmo Tower Observatory, whilst not museums in the traditional sense, are also both worth visiting.
Indeed, the views are very impressive.
There are many other museums in and around Osaka that I want to visit in the future. Some of these include: The Panasonic Centre, Japan Folk Art Museum, Maritime Museum, Eco Museum, Transportation Museum, Kamigata Comedy and Performing Arts Museum and The Entrepreneurial Museum of Challenge and Innovation.
I’m particularly interested in also visiting the Ethnology Museum because it is located in quite close proximity to the Senriyama branch Smiths School of English, which is where I work.
It is at times like these when I am very thankful for the excellent map that the city has printed!
